Essential Energy plane was conducting aerial inspections of the company’s electricity network prior to the crash

Two people have been killed after a light plane inspecting Essential Energy’s electricity network crashed north of Canberra.

New South Wales police confirmed that emergency services were called to a paddock on a property in the small township of Sutton about 4.30pm on Tuesday afternoon following reports a plane had crashed.
