Inquiry into prevention of violence against women and children also recommends appointment of new women’s safety commissioner

A shake-up of funding for frontline services and the appointment of a new women’s safety commissioner are among almost 100 recommendations included in a bipartisan report on domestic and sexual violence to be tabled in parliament.

The recommendations, backed by Coalition and Labor MPs, come as the government faces pressure to back up its recent cabinet reshuffle which amplified a female “perspective” with action and funding, including for domestic violence services.
