Permanent protection visas

2022, Protest for Permanent Protection Visas, Canberra

Refugees on temporary visas flocked to Canberra, asking for Albanese’s Labor government to make good on its promise to give them permanent protection visas, which would remove limitations on work, study and family reunion, and allow for a more stable life.

31,000 refugees in Australia currently live on temporary visas, many for over a decade. Most have not seen their families back home for that time, many are eking out a living on the lowest pay, many have not been able to study. None can travel.
